Wrinkle Reduction Treatment

The number one sign of ageing that I hear people complain of the most is, without a doubt, wrinkles. As we get older, our skin develops wrinkles naturally, some fine and light, some deep and very obvious. This is because we have been using the muscles in our face for a very long time, and overuse of these muscles creates a crinkling in the skin, which over time turn into those classic crows feet and fine lines. Combined with the fact that, over time, our skin cells become less effective at repairing themselves, we become more prone to wrinkles everywhere.

You can do some things to keep wrinkles at bay yourself – like reducing your exposure to UV light, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and making sure you get enough sleep. But that will only go so far. But don’t worry, that’s where I step in. Using the most advanced anti-aging technologies, I can help you roll back the years and achieve natural, radiant results – without invasive surgeries. Wrinkle reduction treatments can not only give you a youthful appearance in as little as 15 minutes, and helps prevent future wrinkles from forming too, keeping you looking younger for longer.

How do we do it?

For deep lines and folds, or for lift, we need to use dermal fillers.

For skin laxity and tightening we can use Profhilo, a bio-remodelling treatment.

For crows feet, frown lines and forehead lines, we need to use something to stop the underlying muscles from being as active. This is a prescription only treatment and should only be provided by qualified and insured doctors, dentists and aesthetic nurses.

We will assess your face and the wrinkles caused by muscle action, and if appropriate we will prescribe tiny doses of botulinium toxin type A to paralyse parts of the muscles.

How long does it last?

It takes a few days to take effect.

The toxin temporarily stops the muscles from working by blocking one of the chemical messengers in the muscle cell. Treatment usually lasts around 4-6 months as your body will gradually clear the toxin from the area. Over time the muscles don’t tighten as actively and you will need less top ups.

Is it dangerous?

No. although botulinium toxin would be very dangerous if you were to swallow a large amount of it, the amounts used to paralyse muscles temporarily are miniscule. However, there are a couple of medical conditions where we prefer not to use it, and as always, we would not use it if you are likely to be pregnant or are breast feeding. We will discuss your general health with you before we prescribe treatment.

Does it hurt?

It is applied with a series of tiny needles which obviously prick slightly. If you are very sensitive, we can use numbing cream. It just takes minutes.

Do I need to be careful afterwards?

Yes, we recommend that you do not rub the area. It is important that the toxin stays exactly where we have put it. If you rub your eye, you could have a droopy eyelid which can take weeks to return to normal.

We also recommend that you do not exercise, have a shower, wash your hair, put makeup on, have a sauna or lie down for 4 hours. Other than that you can go about your normal routine.

How much does it cost?

For our regular clients we charge £160 for the first area, and £55 for each extra area treated at the same time.

For new clients or occasional clients who might need more toxin, then the fee can be a little higher.

We occasionally run offers and these can be found on our Facebook page.

How Does Wrinkle Reduction Work?

Anti-wrinkle injections, or wrinkle reduction treatments are one of the most popular services we offer. We use a careful amount of botulinum toxin and inject it into the facial muscles to soften lines and wrinkles over the whole of your face, or just in your problem areas. Popular areas for this wrinkle reduction treatment are in between the eyes, the forehead, around the eyes (for crow’s feet) and to treat smile lines. The injections work by relaxing the muscles of the injected area, reducing their movement. This prevents further creasing of the skin, and prevents more lines and wrinkles from forming. Treatments are completely safe and painless, last around 15 minutes, and the effects will last for around 4-6 months.
