WHAT IS PROFHILO?
Often referred to as the ‘injectable moisturiser’, the Profhilo procedure consists of two sessions of small injections of hyper-pure synthetic hyaluronic acid, a substance produced naturally by the body. Unlike ‘fillers’, these micro injections are aimed at creating a hydrated, plumped look rather than restructuring the shape of the face.

This treatment is designed for people whose skin lacks volume and elasticity. The slow release of HA by Profhilo stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, in turn improving skin tone, hydration and the appearance of fine lines.
PROFHILO BODY
Profhilo can be used on any are of the body. The upper arms and saggy tummy are areas that we see great results. The treatment is provided in 2 sessions 4 weeks apart.
The body pack includes 2 x 3ml vials of profhilo. You would need 2 packs for the upper arms or 1 pack for the tummy area.
It also includes healing masks to place immediately and a body cream to enhance the effects.
HOW DOES PROFHILO WORK?
Imagine the effect of having a really good facial with extra moisturising, that lasts up to 6 months!
HA is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water from your body, so Profhilo acts as a hydrator rather than a filler. This makes it fantastic for those with tired, dull-looking skin, transforming it into firm and luminous skin. This effect takes place within 3-5 days of treatment.
Over the next few weeks collagen and elastin production is stimulated, producing a secondary effect of skin tightening. This is useful because levels of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid in the skin rapidly drop from the age of 30, resulting in signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and lacklustre skin. Profhilo acts to reverse some of these changes. The maximum effect of Profhilo is usually seen 2 months after the second treatment.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PROFHILO?
Treatment with Profhilo improves skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance. It can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin. Profhilo is most commonly used for facial areas, but can also be used to rejuvenate the neck, hands and décolletage (cleavage area).
WHAT DOES PROFHILO TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Profhilo is not as invasive as a filler. It is injected just below the skin’s surface over two sessions, ideally around four weeks apart. After injection it disperses quickly beneath the skin. Profhilo is designed to be absorbed within a 2cm radius of its injection site, so you’ll need around 10 injection points to cover the whole face.
After your treatment over the two sessions, you can expect to see an intense hydration. It makes the skin glow, fine lines can disappear and you’ll notice smoother, tighter skin. Courses of two treatments can be repeated every six months as needed to maintain the results.
WHAT ABOUT RECOVERY?
The downtime following a treatment is minimal, and you should be able to return to normal ‘light’ daily activities immediately after your procedure. There will be some raised ‘bumps’ on the face, so you may not want to return the office straight after! Plus we recommend that you avoid strenuous physical activity on the first day after the treatment, and don’t have a sauna or steamy bath for the first few days. You should also avoid sunbathing or staying outside for prolonged periods after treatment.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE-EFFECTS?
As with all non-surgical aesthetic treatments there is a risk of side-effects. These are typically small swellings at the injection points and potentially minor bruising if you are prone to that.
Profhilo is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who are allergic to Hyaluronic Acid (very rare).

- older ladies with visible signs of skin laxity and crepiness
- less older ladies who feel that their skin is dry and/or starting to show lines
- sun damaged skin that is starting to show lines
- younger ladies who have noticed that their skin is not as ‘peachy’ as it used to be. In younger faces we can use it as a preventive measure.
- It’s suitable for men too. Men who feel their face is looking tired, but would be adverse to fillers will achieve skin tightening and subtle rejuvenation.
