EXCEPT!!!! You’ve a little midriff bulge, or love handles or you’re a little podgy under your chin? Previously, surgery or liposuction was the recommended way to treat these stubborn areas, but now we have Aqualyx, which is used to break down the fat in problem areas.

It is injected directly into the area of the fatty pockets you want treated. The active ingredient is a synthetic bile acid, more usually found in the gall bladder and secreted into your gut to break down fatty food.

As with any well-managed medical procedure, I’d want to see you for an initial consultation to determine that you are fit and well, and that the fat is in a suitable area for treatment. We cannot offer treatment if you are pregnant or breast feeding or if you suffer from a chronic inflammatory illness. Localised contraindications would be any inflammatory or infective skin condition at the injection site.

Subject to the examination and what you’re looking to have done, we will advise you on how many sessions you are likely to need, but here are typical indications:

On the day of treatment

The Aqualyx Procedure
We recommend loose clothing and that there is no make up on the intended site. We will cleanse the area with an antibacterial solution, and then mark out where we need to inject. With your agreement we will procedure.

The injecting solution includes local anaesthetic, so there is very little discomfort. Immediately afterwards, the area will feel itchy and will be red. It may be uncomfortable, but please don’t take any anti-inflammatory medication as you won’t get such a good result. The inflammation is needed to help burst the fat cells.

You might expect some redness, and possibly a little bruising for 3-5 days, it may ache a little. I’ve even had an area done, so I can confirm that it’s really not a problem. It was quite itchy and warm. After treatment DO NOT use ice packs, DO NOT take ibuprofen. Avoid Gym, sauna, etc for a couple of days. Do drink plenty of water. The broken down fat will be enter your blood stream and eventually be excreted.

What sort of results can you expect with Aqualyx?

This lady is an athlete and dancer. She was concerned about her tummy. She had 2 sessions of Aqualyx and is delighted with the results. As you can see her muscle definition is better as it’s not hiding under that fat pocket.
